River Sailor

Requirements:
- training in the inland waterway transport and experience in the nautical field, preferably on river cruise ships, at least 2 years
- owns an old river booklet with minimum sailor stamp on the Rhine qualification side, or owns a new EU booklet with sailor stamp
- polite, loyal and mature personality
- well-groomed appearance with good communications skills
- feels comfortable to work in an international team
- candidates with a good level of German and/ or English are preferred
- has the ability to operate under pressure and comply with the safety regulations requirements and procedures
Responsibilities:
- immediately reports damages, issues and concerns to the Captain
- performs maintenance works on deck and in other areas; these works will include painting, cleaning floors, carpentry and varnishing
- safely deploys the gangway and secure ship at dock
- close off stairway access to the Sundeck in a timely manner when passing low bridges
- verifies the operational readiness of the rescue boat
- co-responsible for the cleanliness on board, the external appearance of the ship and the Sundeck
- follows safety regulations regarding ship, staff and guests, as instructed by the Captain
- attends meetings with superiors and other staff, regarding the schedule or ship life
- contributes to guests’ memorable cruising experience
- attends all trainings as per the Captain instructions
- assists with loading of provisions as directed
