Mechanical Engineer

The Mechanical Engineer carries out the routine maintenance operations, performs mechanical and electrical repairs on board. Is in charge for all technical issues onboard, both on the nautical as well as on the hotel side of the operation

Requirements:

  • River booklet with engineer qualification
  • demonstrates good level of German and/ or English
  • has experience with Caterpillar and/or Aqua master systems (knowledge of Z-Drive systems is an advantage)
  • very good professional with sound judgement and A MINIMUM OF 3 - 4 years of experience required
  • has the capability to work independently and in small spaces
  • has a strong sense of accountability and follows the safety policies and regulations at all times
  • demonstrates very good crisis management and communication skills
  • experience on passenger ships is desirable but not a must

Responsibilities:

  • performs maintenance operations or of remedy on board of the ship
  • repairs and maintains the mechanical and electrical parts of equipment
  • performs works in the engine room and sometimes in guest’s areas
  • will rapidly remedy the day-to-day issues
  • when needed will order adequate spare parts after getting the necessary approvals
  • collaborates with other nautical team members and the land-based offices to ensure a smooth nautical operation
